Due to the continuing success of Burning Sky’s unique range of beers, pressure had mounted to
meet the ever growing demand by increasing capacity. The brewery contacted Gravity Systems to find a solution with the proviso disruption to the breweries operation must at all times be kept to a minimum. The solution was to add a further 2 fermentation tanks but, the brewery being compact and space at a premium, room had to be created to fit the fermenters in. The answer was to rearrange the grist handling area and at the breweries request and incorporate a new grist mill.
Detailed discussions took place and a method was worked out allowing for the development to take place whilst meeting the breweries requirement to minimise disruption.
The work involved supply and installation of the 2 fermentation tanks by firstly, removing the existing ground floor mounted grist handling system and replacing it with a custom built stainless steel grist hopper. The hopper was designed with a new grist mill and located on the mezzanine floor, this had the added advantage of being able to reuse the existing grist conveying system and at the same time simplifying the conveying route.
By forward planning and closely working with the brewery, Gravity Systems were able to carry out the project with minimal disruption whilst allowing the brewery to continue brewing without interruption.
